Your visitors see error messages customized with your logo and links.
Sometimes a visitor will enter an incorrect URL, and a server will respond with the "404 Page Not Found" error message we've all seen in our travels around the web.
Publisher-For-You accounts help make this interruption more accommodating for your users.
First, the navigation of your site builds and maintains itself, reducing the possibility of coding errors and dead links.
If the user does request a URL not included in your site, your account will show them a 404 error page customized with your logo, and with helpful links to your home page and site map.
Here's a dead link you can click, just to see the 404 error page for this site.
This is more welcoming than the generic Apache web server 404 error page, which dumps the visitor in to a crude and unhelpful page.
There are other kinds of errors as well.
A 500 Internal Server Error indicates a coding problem with the server, or the page being requested.
In this case, your account will present a customized error page with a button that user can click to report the error directly to us.
In other words, any time there is an error on any Publisher-For-You account page, we will learn of the error, and immediately investigate.
Error pages will never be a big part of your site, but when they do appear, it's nice that they look good and be helpful, so user's don't get discouraged.
